Getting Started with Weights

Getting Started with Weights

Learn how to get started with weights/resistance training

You know you need to do some resistance training but you’re not sure where to start

You’re already working out regularly but you need an easy to follow weights programme you can do on your own

You’re over 40 and you’re not scared of training with weights but you need to know what’s best for your body

You do a bit of resistance training but you’d like to get clear on technique so you look after your joints

If this is you I’d love for you to join me for a mini workshop ‘Getting Started with Weights’.

Here's what we'll do:

  • I’ll introduce you to the four main exercises you’ll need to do to get started.
  • Join me for a simple mobility session to warm up the major joints.
  • Learn to squat, hinge, pull and push with equipment you have at home.
  • Take away an easy to follow, 20 minute weights programme that you’ll be able to do yourself, with confidence.

This is a beginner’s guide to weight training, specifically designed for adults over 40.

I’m Karen, and I’m a Pilates instructor and fitness expert.

Over the last 17 years, I’ve taught Pilates to hundreds of people across London and Essex. I’ve also had a long list of private clients for whom I’ve created bespoke strength and conditioning programmes.

During that time I’ve noticed two things:

1. Clients are more likely to ask me for advice on weights because they’re already confident they can follow instructions from my Pilates classes. They trust I’m not going to make them hurt and understand the importance of technique. I’m not going to make them do tricks, I know my stuff.

2. Often clients follow very similar programmes in the first few months. Whilst it’s great to get a bespoke programme from a personal trainer, it’s possible to get started with weights as part of a small group with a basic programme.

I don’t want to over complicate it. If you’re already a bit worried about where and how to get started, a 12 step programme isn’t going to work. I’ve learned over years of helping clients to create better fitness and health habits that starting simply is the key to success.

Getting Started with Weights is a really simple guide to - as it says on the tin - get you started.

Inside Getting Started with Weights

I’ll be teaching the session live via Zoom.

You can join from home with whatever weights or equipment you have available.

During the class I’ll encourage you to take notes and write down the programme in a way that makes it easy for you to follow.

I'll send you the recorded class to keep and watch again in your own time. You can also catch up with the recording if you can’t join us live.

The workshop is free for members, £15 for non members: Book Workshop
